What is Matchmaking, and How Does it Differ from Networking ?

MATCHMAKING, unlike “networking meetings” or “meet and greets” is set up similar to the “INTERVIEW” for a job or position.  Your registration is the RESUME, your Match with the BUYER is the criteria to be discussed at the interview. You are meeting to demonstrate to the BUYER that you are the best qualified for what they are specifically looking for. Unlike a job fair, where you are turning in many variations of your resume, Matchmaking is the “INTERVIEW” for the job offer.

NETWORKING is similar to a “meet & greet” or an "elevator speech".  There is no specific offer or level of performance required. These are meetings set up with other attendees without a specific role or any specific products or services on the table. There is no specific work to be discussed

In either option, you should be prepared with documentation that validates that you are “Registered, Reliable and Responsible”.

BE PREPARED for the matchmaking meetings and “demonstrate” to the BUYER that you can perform or will perform the “matched” criteria. SELLERS should also do some research on the buyer's organization and learn about what their specialty is and determine how they can fit into the Supply Chain.
